A direct answer

What does a leaf-removal
service include?

Leaf cleanup addresses accumulated leaves in agreed areas of the property. A complete scope identifies where leaves will be gathered and how the material will be handled afterward. Blowing leaves into a pile, relocating them on site, bagging them and hauling them away are different tasks.

Start an HLB Services request: Share your location, property type, cleanup areas and current accumulation. Tell us whether you want a one-time cleanup, repeat visits or broader seasonal work. Material handling and additional debris should be stated in the estimate.
Define the cleanup area

Lawn, beds
and the approaches between them.

Lawn & Open Areas

Identify the lawn sections and other open areas where leaves have gathered. Describe whether the accumulation is light, widespread or concentrated in heavy piles.

Discuss in your estimate: Maintained boundaries, obstacles, access and current condition.

Selected Landscape Beds

Request leaf cleanup within specified beds and around retained plants. Bed cleanup should distinguish leaves from mulch, plant removal and other landscape work.

Discuss in your estimate: Planting areas, delicate features and material to retain.

Walkways & Entrances

Include the paths, front approaches and paved areas you want tidied after the agreed collection work. Identify occupied or shared routes needing coordination.

Discuss in your estimate: Pedestrian access, parked vehicles and work boundaries.

Seasonal Property Cleanup

If leaves are one part of a larger project, list the other work separately. Shrub trimming, bed weeding, mulch and branch removal need their own scope.

Discuss in your estimate: Additional tasks, mixed debris, disposal and project priorities.

Leaf cleanup is not every kind of cleanup. Roofs, gutters, tree work, large storm debris, construction waste and other specialized tasks are not assumed included. Describe those needs separately for review.

On-site placement
or off-site removal?

Approved On-Site Placement

If your property has a suitable designated area, ask whether on-site handling is practical. The former “To the Woods” option should mean an agreed location on your own property, not simply moving the problem beyond the lawn.

Discuss in your estimate: Exact placement area, access, boundaries and whether the site is appropriate.

Collection & Off-Site Removal

If you want the material taken away, request collection, loading, hauling and disposal specifically. Confirm whether those components are included and whether mixed debris affects acceptance.

Discuss in your estimate: Leaf volume, loading access, hauling and disposal costs.

Bagging and pickup are separate decisions. Do not assume that bagging includes hauling or that a municipal service will accept material prepared by a contractor. Confirm any collection arrangements and current local requirements before choosing that option.

EPA advises keeping leaves and yard debris out of streets, gutters and storm drains. See its Stormwater Smart lawn-care guide.

Removal is not the only discussion

Can leaves be
reused in the landscape?

Some yard material can be used in mulch or compost where appropriate. If you want to retain leaves for that purpose, identify the intended area and how the material should be handled. Reuse is not the same as leaving an undefined pile wherever it is convenient.

Discuss the Intended Use

Tell us whether you have an existing composting area or a particular landscape use in mind. Suitability, collection and placement need review.

Discuss in your estimate: The receiving area, material condition and your maintenance expectations.

Keep the Scope Clear

Do not assume that leaf mulching, compost processing or bed installation is part of a leaf-removal price. Ask which tasks are available and included.

Discuss in your estimate: Handling method, requested finish and any separate work.

EPA describes mulch and compost as possible yard-waste options in What You Can Do in Your Yard. That general guidance does not determine the right approach for every property.

Plan around actual accumulation

How often should
leaf cleanup be scheduled?

The number of visits should reflect your trees, work areas, desired appearance and the amount of accumulation between cleanups. A single final cleanup and several smaller visits represent different service expectations.

  • One-time cleanup: Address agreed areas at the condition reviewed for the estimate.
  • Two-visit planning: Discuss an earlier and later seasonal visit if useful.
  • Additional visits: Identify how extra requests are scheduled and priced.
  • Weather & access: Agree on communication if conditions affect the planned work.
Commercial & managed properties

Keep the maintained areas
and priorities clear.

Commercial leaf work should identify the surfaces and landscape areas the property team maintains. Shared boundaries, tenant responsibilities and different levels of presentation can change the scope.

Offices & Retail

Identify entrances, common walks, frontage and selected beds. Discuss work around customer and delivery activity.

Discuss in your estimate: Priority areas, parking access and operating windows.

Apartments & HOAs

Mark association or community-maintained lawns and beds separately from private-use areas. Provide gates and onsite contact arrangements.

Discuss in your estimate: Common-area boundaries, resident access and visit frequency.

Churches & Managed Grounds

Share event calendars and the areas needing attention. Larger sites and multiple addresses should provide separate scope details.

Discuss in your estimate: Events, access, approval contacts and disposal.

Portfolio requests: Send each address and its cleanup requirements. Coverage, capacity, documentation and requested timing need review by location.

Homeowner priorities

Tell us what
a finished cleanup looks like to you.

Some homeowners want the lawn tidied while retaining leaves in an approved area; others want collection and removal. Identify the result you want so the estimate describes the same service you are expecting.

Before the Visit

Discuss gates, pets, vehicles and access to the agreed areas. Identify features or materials that should not be disturbed.

Discuss in your estimate: Outdoor items, delicate beds and access limits.

At Completion

Confirm the intended finish, material placement and any excluded areas. Ongoing leaf fall and unrelated debris should not be confused with incomplete agreed work.

Discuss in your estimate: What remains, what is removed and later service needs.

Routine mowing is a separate scope. A mowing visit does not automatically include heavy leaf cleanup, hauling, bed work or large debris removal unless those tasks are listed.

Property-specific pricing

What affects
leaf-removal costs?

The lawn size alone does not describe the whole cleanup. Price depends on accumulation, work areas, access, material handling and the visits requested.

  • Size and number of lawn, bed or paved areas.
  • Volume, distribution and current material condition.
  • Obstacles, gates and loading access.
  • Approved on-site placement versus hauling.
  • Branches, litter or other separately accepted debris.
  • One cleanup versus a defined repeat-visit plan.

Answers before scheduling

Leaf-removal
& seasonal-cleanup FAQs.

What does leaf removal include?

The estimate identifies cleanup areas and how leaves will be handled. Blowing, collection, on-site placement, bagging and hauling are different tasks; only the agreed work is included.

Can I request just one leaf cleanup?

Yes. Describe the current condition and the areas needing work. Scope, handling and availability are confirmed before scheduling.

Can I arrange two seasonal visits?

You can request an earlier and later seasonal cleanup, including November and December preferences. Current dates, route availability and scope per visit must be confirmed.

Will my property stay leaf-free between visits?

No ongoing leaf-free condition is promised. Additional leaf fall may require another agreed cleanup beyond the work completed at a visit.

What does To the Woods mean?

It means a reviewed on-site placement option in a designated suitable area on your property. The location and handling must be agreed; it does not authorize moving material onto neighboring land or into drainage areas.

Will you haul the leaves away?

Off-site removal can be requested. Collection, loading, hauling, disposal and acceptance of mixed debris need to be expressly included in the estimate.

Is bagging the same as removal?

No. Confirm whether material is bagged, left for a separately arranged collection or hauled away. Local pickup eligibility and preparation rules must be checked rather than assumed.

Do you remove leaves from beds and walkways?

You can request selected beds and paved areas alongside lawn cleanup. Identify retained mulch, plants and other features, plus the exact work boundaries.

Are branches and storm debris included?

Only if specifically accepted and listed. Large limbs, tree work, hazardous material and other specialized cleanup are not automatically included in leaf service.

Can I reuse the leaves instead of hauling them away?

Discuss an appropriate mulch, compost or on-site handling option. The intended use and placement need review; processing or bed installation is not assumed part of collection.

Do you provide commercial and HOA cleanup?

Send the address, maintained areas, access requirements, desired visits and handling preference. Each property’s suitability, capacity and availability need review.

How do I request an estimate?

Use the contact page or call 936-647-8791. Include location, cleanup areas, current accumulation, desired visits and handling preference. Confirm scope, price and scheduling before work.
